Swanton Seniors Shine on Senior Night With Win Over LC

After a brief ceremony to honor the contributions of the 10 seniors on the Swanton Boys Soccer roster, it was the Bulldog seniors that contributed all of the scoring, ,goals and assists, in a critical 5-2 NWOAL victory over the visiting Liberty Center Tigers at Krupitzer Soccer Field on Tuesday afternoon. Eli Bolyard continued his torrid scoring streak with four more goals. Brendan Upham scored once and added two assists while Evan Reinhard and Lucas Lohman each had one assist.
As anticipated, the match was close most of the way. Swanton were on top 2-1 at halftime and held a very tenuous 3-2 lead with approximately seven minutes remaining. At that point, Bolyard scored his third goal of the game to give the Bulldogs some breathing room and then sealed the match a few minutes later with his fourth. Junior Landon Hendricks had another solid game in goal with 11 saves.
The win moves Swanton’s record to 2-1 in the NWOAL and 9-2 overall. The Bulldogs will welcome in the Pettisville Blackbirds on Thursday for a non-league game. Liberty Center drops to 2-2 in the league and 7-4-1 on the season. The Tigers travel to Defiance on Saturday to face the Bulldogs.
