Martinez Leads Ground Attack in Delta Win Over Wauseon

Delta senior Vincent Martinez led a four-horse stable of running backs that accounted for 376 yards on the ground as the visiting Panthers romped over the Wauseon Indians 48-6 to spoil the home team’s Homecoming Night. Martinez racked up 128 yards rushing and scored twice, once on a 40-yard pass from Emric Friess. Marcus Nagel rushed for 106 yards while Jaedyn Gillen ran for 81 yards and Gunner Taylor added 61 yards on the ground and all three scored once. Friess threw for 95 yards and three touchdowns for the important NWOAL victory.
The win improves Delta’s record to 2-1 in the league and 5-1 on the season. The Panthers return home to face the Patrick Henry Patriots (2-1/4-2) next Friday. Wauseon falls to 1-2 in the NWOAL and 1-5 overall. The Indians travel to Archbold on Friday to take on the Blue Streaks (3-0/6-0) in a rivalry matchup.
