The Archbold Blue Streaks used a balanced offense, a strong front-line defense and took advantage of numerous Delta first-half penalties to beat the Panthers 38-7 on Friday night at Archbold High School. Both teams came in with perfect 3-0 records, all in non-league play, to open the NWOAL season and with a chance rack up slew of computer points in pursuit of reaching the state playoffs.
Blue Streak quarterback, Maddox Pinter threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns on 20 of 29 passes. His top receiver, Morgan Harris, pulled in six of those passes for 117 yards, including one for a 55-yard touchdown in the second quarter that gave Archbold a 14-0 lead. Pinter also completed seven passes to Anderson Bently for 91 yards and a score.
Marcus Nagel ran for 99 yards on 21 carries for the Panthers. Quarterback Emric Friess had 129 yards passing, completing 8 of 12 attempts and threw a 60-yard touchdown to Mason Nagel.
The win improves the Blue Streak’s record at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the NWOAL. They will travel to Evergreen next Friday to play against the Vikings (0-4/0-1). Delta drops to 3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the league. The Panthers return home on Friday to face the Swanton Bulldogs (1-3/0-1).
