EJ Ritter Event Hall Mother’s Day Brunch to Benefit Swanton Historical Society
The EJ Ritter Event Hall along with Studio 101 Salon and Spa located at 124 North Main Street in Swanton is hosting a Mother’s Day Brunch this Sunday with reservations taken at noon, 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to celebrate the holiday and help raise funds for the Swanton Ohio Historical Society. It will be the first of what Janet Ritter, Swanton entrepreneur and proprietor of the host businesses, hopes will become an annual event.
“My objective for Mother’s Day was to have a Mother’s Day Buffet. The purpose is to help generate some funds for the Swanton Ohio Historical Society,” explained Janet. “The menu will consist of chicken, roast beef, and pasta complemented with mashed potatoes and cheesy potatoes, including vegetable dishes, salads, and desserts. Doors will open at 9:00 a.m. to allow moms to shop and enjoy specific salon services. Seating for brunch will start at noon. To help the Swanton Historical Society, there will be raffles, silent auctions, and baskets to raise money to help offset the cost of archiving items. Swag bags will be available for moms from local vendors and businesses.
Heather Williams of LuLu Fare catering will be providing the meal. The price is $27.00 per person and children ages five and under will be free.
Once known as the Epic Center, Janet purchased the building from a local church group and relocated her Studio 101 business from a location on Church Street from where she operated for many years into one half of the facility. “I’m excited about doing this because this hall fell into our laps. I looked at it and I said this is a great event hall. It’s not to big, it’s not too small. It will seat up to 140 people,” she said. It is a walk-in ready facility. The linen, the music, everything is provided. You simply bring in your food and decorations and have your event.”
Looking down the road, Janet may explore doing similar events for other holidays such as Easter and Thanksgiving, depending on how well this event is received by the public. “This is my Beta (Test) experience. This is the genesis of it and I hope that if goes well,” she said.
