Delta Volleyballer Heading North to the Next Level
Alyesa Brown, standout on the Delta Panthers Volleyball Team, has chosen to continue her education and volleyball career at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With family, friends and teammates in attendance, Alyesa signed a National Letter of Intent (NLT) to play for the Cardinals beginning next fall.
“I really liked the campus, the complexes and the attitude of the coach towards the game,” said Alyesa, explaining her reasons for selecting Concordia. “It’s a really good environment, competitive and it’s really close to home and I thought it would be a good fit for me.”
Alyesa began playing volleyball in the seventh grade and developed and honed her skills in the highly competitive NWOAL and on club teams during the off season. “It’s awesome. It makes me feel good. She’s a hard worker,” said Panther volleyball coach Heather Carrisalez on Alyesa’s signing. “It’s good for our program. Now girls know they can actually move to the next level.”
At Concordia, Alyesa will be under the tutelage of former Cardinal volleyball player and fifth-year head coach Danielle Cook. “We’re a smaller school and I think the biggest piece about Concordia is we’re a family,” said Coach Cook. “The students are known by name and we want them to feel they are part of a big family.”
Alyesa is currently undecided about a major course of study but is considering either business or radiology technology.
