Swanton Tops Lake in Boys Basketball Season Opener

Freshman Brady Haselman scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half as the Swanton Bulldogs defeated the Lake Flyers 68-56 in the first game of the 2024-2025 boys’ basketball high school season in Swanton’s Kevin J. McQuade Gymnasium.  Down 12-10 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored the Flyers 18-10 and 19-13 in the next two quarters to take a 12-point lead heading into the final frame.  Lake shot well in the fourth quarter in scoring 21 points, but Swanton was just as hot and matched the 21 points to win with the 12-point advantage.

The Bulldogs will now go on the road for the next four games beginning with a one-hour trip to Miller City, Ohio to take on the Miller City Wildcats.  The JV game begins at 6:00 p.m. with the Varsity game to follow approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the JV game.
