The Swanton Bulldogs opened the 2024 season at home and were defeated by the Paulding Panthers 34-0 in a non-league game. Paulding scored a safety on the first play from scrimmage following the kick-off for a quick 2-0 lead and scored a touchdown after the Bulldogs were forced to kickoff from their own 20-yard line to lead 9-0 early in the game.
Swanton’s defense toughened after the early scores, but finally gave up a touchdown pass just before the end of the first half for a 15-0 deficit after they blocked the extra point. The Panthers scored again early in the third quarter on another touchdown pass to go on top 22-0 before coring twice more in the fourth quarter for the 34-0 final.
The Bulldogs will be on the road for the next two games, first against the Hicksville Aces and then against the Ottawa Hills Green Bears.
