FCEDC Holds 10th Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet

On Friday evening, April 25th, the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC) held its 10th Annual Meeting and Awards Banquet at the Birchwood Meadow Wedding and Event Barn in Swanton.  Matt Gilroy, FCEDC Executive Director, served as the emcee and welcomed the approximately 250 guests. 

Special guests included Lu Cooke, Regional Representative for Lt. Governor John Husted, Roy Palmer, Representing Senator J.D. Vance, Kim Priestap, Regional Representative for Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Representative Jim Hoops, Ohio House of Representatives, RJ Mancini, Manager of Government Affairs, JobsOhio, and Jeff Rupp, Fulton County Commissioner.  Also from Fulton County in attendance were mayors, council members, township trustees, school board members and other various elected officials.

“Established in May 2014, the Fulton County Economic Development Corporation marks its ten-year anniversary tonight.  Over the past decade, we’ve celebrated numerous milestones and spearheaded various initiatives.  More than 70 development endeavors undertaken by Fulton County businesses have resulted in over $1.5 billion in capital investments, generating over 1,200 jobs across our communities.  From our humble beginnings with 62 Charter Members, we now boast over 100 member businesses and organizations contributing to our collective achievements,” said Mr. Gilroy addressing the guests.

“The outlook for Fulton County and Northwest Ohio remains promising.  Our business community is actively engaged in fostering economic growth.  Challenges such as residential development and workforce skills are being met with innovative solutions, and the FCEDC continues to cultivate a robust pipeline of prospective development projects poised to bolster tax revenues, employment opportunities, and economic prosperity in Fulton County,” he added.

In the business portion of the event, the FCEDC Nominating Committee recommended the following Slate of Candidates for the organization’s Executive Committee and all were approved.

Serving a one-year term ending June 30, 2025:  Sommer Vriezelaar – Nooter LLC

Serving a two-year term ending June 30, 2026:  Scott Anair – Wauseon Machine & Manufacturing, Josh Rupli & Dan Silvers – Hylant, Chris Gohr – Sauder, Kathy Shaw – Triangular Processing, Keith Torbet – City of Wauseon, Seth Thomas – Thomas Construction & Remodeling

Following dinner, the 2024 FCDEC Awards were announced.

The 2024 Business Awards:  Business of the Year – Anderzack-Pitzen Construction (APC), Inc.   Community Leadership – Dental Excellence of Delta   Excellence in Retail – Aquatek Water Conditioning   Excellence in Industry – Shaw’s Clothing

The 2024 Community Involvement Awards:  Volunteer of the Year – Kimberly Smallman   Excellence in Public Service – Jim Wyse   The Robert Fulton Award – Gary Loar
