With a roster featuring 11 seniors, the Evergreen Vikings used their wealth of experience and chemistry to go on the road and defeat the Swanton Bulldogs in the Kevin J. McQuade Gymnasium 46-36 on Friday night. The visiting Vikings jumped out to an early 11-2 lead to start the game and basically held serve for the rest of the contest to come away with the 10-pint win in the non-league game.
Swanton recovered from the early nine-point deficit to tie the game at 11 but could never take the lead as the teams battled back and forth. The Bulldogs closed the gap several times only to see the Vikings restore the comfortable advantage. Evergreen benefited from a balanced scoring offense with Eli Kiefer and Drew Gillen leading the way with 14 and 10 points respectively. Charlie Wood scored 19 of Swanton’s 36 points and added 10 rebounds.
With the win, Evergreen moves their record to 2-1 and will next play Ottawa Hills at home on Thursday, 12/14/23 at 7:30 PM. The loss put Swanton’s record at 0-3 and their next game will be at Otsego on Tuesday, 12/19/23 at 7:30 PM.
