Four weeks from tomorrow, on October 29th, a large section of Main Street in Downtown Swanton will be filled with ghosts, goblins, witches, vampires, action heroes and just about any kind of scary and fun characters you can think of when the Swanton Lions Club presents their annual and enormously popular Halloween Hoopla.

This year’s Hoopla is shaping up to be the biggest and most exciting in its history, even eclipsing last year’s record-setting event with more features and attractions than ever before.

For starters, there will be five inflatables (Bouncy Houses), pedal cars, a mini-jet from the 180th Tactical Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard, massive trucks from BCA Trucking, Bubba’s Heavy Towing and the Ohio Department of Transportation and lots of games for the kids to play.

There will also be great tasty food giveaways including hot dogs, popcorn, donuts, cider as well as candy from many of the downtown businesses.  A do-it-yourself cookie factory will be set up in the Swanton Board of Education Building, a Pic-a-Duck game will be at the First Federal Delta and there will be a costume contest held at Club Salon.

For more entertainment, dancers from Julie’s Dance Studio will be there, dancing to numerous Halloween songs including crowd favorite, Michael Jackon’s “Thriller”.  DJ Tim Fraker will be rocking Main Street with some great classic hits from beginning to end.

The fun begins that Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM and runs until 5:00 PM.  The Village of Swanton has scheduled their Trick-or-Treat time from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM the same evening.  Hope to see you there.
